Our Head Teacher
Mr John Moss
John Moss is proud to serve as Headteacher of Rosscon Training College, an institution dedicated to supporting young people in reaching their potential through personalised, purposeful education. With extensive experience in school leadership and a higher-level qualification in educational leadership, John has a deep understanding of how to drive improvement while maintaining compassion and care at the heart of the school.
As a passionate advocate for Blackpool’s young people, John is committed to giving students a second chance to engage with learning and develop the skills they need to enter the workforce with confidence and ambition.
Under his leadership, Rosscon is committed to delivering high-quality vocational and academic pathways, founded on high expectations, inclusive practices, and robust pastoral care.

Entry requirements
Access to Rosscon Training College
ROSSCON Training College is open to students by referral from their current school, or by from the local authority if the child is 16+ and has an EHCP in place.
Rosscon Flight Path
Inspiration
We help learners stabilise, rebuild confidence and begin to see education as something that can work for them. This stage is about creating safety, trust and the belief that change is possible.
Aspiration
We raise expectations around conduct, attitude and ambition, supporting learners to understand what they are capable of achieving. This stage focuses on building positive habits, resilience and a clear sense of personal direction.
Exploration
Learners begin to explore different vocational pathways, qualifications and future opportunities linked to their strengths and interests. This stage helps them discover where their skills could take them in education, training or employment.
Experience
Learners apply their knowledge through practical learning, employer links, work-related activity and real-world experiences. This stage develops confidence, independence and the skills needed for life beyond Roscon.
Execute
Learners are supported to take their next step with purpose, whether that is further education, training, employment or a sustained destination. This stage is about turning progress into a positive future pathway.

The Rosscon curriculum is coherent and flexible, able to meet individual learner needs and encourage progression. There is a consistent and explicit focus on learning, encouraging students to take increasing responsibility for their own learning and decision making.

Our Business pathway gives learners the opportunity to develop key business, communication and employability skills while building confidence for further study, apprenticeships or work.

Music – Bespoke Music Pathway with Rock Hard Studios
Our Music pathway is delivered in partnership with Rock Hard Studios and provides a bespoke, creative route for learners with an interest in music, recording, performance, production or songwriting.

Functional Skills Maths and English
Functional Skills Maths and English are a key part of the ROSSCON curriculum. These qualifications support learners to develop the essential literacy and numeracy skills needed for everyday life, further education, training and employment.
