Raising aspirations, building skills and creating brighter futures

Our ethos is relational, inclusive and ambitious. We combine warmth with high expectations so every learner has the care, challenge and opportunity they need to progress.

Our vision

Every learner deserves dignity, belonging and a fresh opportunity to succeed.

ROSSCON Training College supports learners who may have experienced disrupted education, unmet special educational needs, low confidence, anxiety, poor attendance or previous exclusion.

Our role is to restore trust, rebuild engagement and provide a clear pathway towards meaningful achievement, independence and positive destinations.

We do not lower ambition because a learner has experienced difficulty. We adapt the route, strengthen support and keep belief in what that learner can achieve.

“Every learner will be known, valued, challenged and supported to discover their strengths.”

Our aims

What we aim to achieve

Raise aspirations

We help learners see a positive future and set personal, academic and vocational goals.

Secure achievement

We support recognised qualifications, functional English and maths, vocational skill and personal development.

Create safety

We provide a nurturing environment where safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

Meet individual needs

We use assessment, support plans, reasonable adjustments and responsive SEND support.

Re-engage learners

We use relevant, practical learning to build confidence, attendance and learning habits.

Prepare next steps

We focus on careers, employer links, work-related learning, transitions and preparation for adulthood.

Relational inclusion

Relationships before behaviour systems

At Rosscon, relational inclusion means connection before correction. Adults seek to understand the individual, establish trust and emotional safety, then use clear and consistent boundaries to support growth.

Mistakes are addressed honestly and restoratively. The focus is reflection, repair and improved choices.

  • Positive relationships support teaching, safeguarding and behaviour.
  • Clear routines and calm adult responses help learners feel safe.
  • Success is recognised through attendance, engagement, qualifications, resilience, conduct and contribution.
  • Support must enable progress rather than reduce expectations.

Relational inclusion

A shared language for the learner journey

Our Flight Path describes how learners move from initial engagement to confident achievement and progression.

SEND and inclusion

Removing barriers while preserving ambition

We use information from EHCPs, prior settings, families, professionals, diagnostic assessments, classroom observation and learner voice to plan the right support.

Inclusion means each learner feels safe, valued, understood and that they belong. We recognise that behaviour can be communication, and we respond with curiosity while maintaining accountability.

Curriculum and relationships

Learning that connects to employment and adult life

Our curriculum combines academic learning, vocational education, personal development, careers education and enrichment.

Learners are taught the knowledge, vocabulary, practical techniques and behaviours needed to progress.

  • Clear learning intentions and success criteria.
  • Strong modelling, explanation and guided practice.
  • Frequent checks for understanding and timely feedback.
  • Functional English and maths embedded across vocational areas.
  • Authentic projects and experiences linked to future pathways.
