Functional Skills Maths and English
Functional Skills Maths and English are a key part of the ROSSCON curriculum. These qualifications support learners to develop the essential literacy and numeracy skills needed for everyday life, further education, training and employment.
In English, learners develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. They work on communication, understanding texts, writing for different purposes and expressing ideas clearly.
In Maths, learners develop confidence with number, measure, money, time, shape, data and problem-solving. The focus is on practical maths that can be applied to real-life and workplace situations.
Functional Skills are delivered at a level appropriate to each learner, typically from Entry Level through to Level 2. Students are supported through small group teaching, personalised intervention and confidence-building activities so they can make progress from their individual starting points.
